Though birds have always been common in Derplandia and its surrounding allied nations, they were always thought to be wanderers and nomads, without a national homeland. This was in fact absolutely wrong, a mistake that was eventually chalked up to the language barrier, as most birb buddies speak using chirps and whistles, as well as the occasional warble. The exception to this would be the prestigious party parrots, who are generally too busy partying it up to speak to 'non-party' animals.

Nevertheless, eventually, a brave Derplandian explorer, Sir Nutsford the flying squirrel knight launched himself out of one of the Derplandian army's cannons, straight into the sky, just for fun, apparently. As he reached the top of the clouds an absolutely amazing sight unfurled before his eyes: a city in the sky, populated by all manner of colorful birds of all shapes and sizes. Its name? Birblandia!
